Who is Bob the Dragon?

Dragons have influenced Remit Consulting since our formative years, when one of our very close friends, Bob Thompson, described our philosophy of challenging the status quo and alerting the market to future changes and opportunities as “Poking sleeping dragons with sharp sticks”.

From 2007, as Remit Consulting’s director of research, Bob played a pivotal role in the development of Remit Consulting’s benchmarking and industry analysis:

• In 2009, he co-wrote an overview of how social media and Web would be used within the commercial property sector for the RICS.

• In 2010, he established Remit Consulting’s REMark Report, which has gone on to put Remit Consulting on the pages of the Financial Times, The Times, The Telegraph, Bloomberg and many other national and international publications.

• In 2012, he researched the ‘Role of Cloud Computing in Commercial Property’ for the RICS

• and, in 2017, he created an insightful report titled ‘Artificial Intelligence in the Built Environment’

Therefore, when we decided to use the image of a dragon to celebrate 20 years of ‘poking sleeping dragons with sharp sticks’, we thought we would call our dragon motif “Bob”, in memory of our good friend.
