Remit Newsletter 1 - June 2003
Introduction
Remit's first two months have flown by. If you have looked at the web-site you will have seen that we are now four. I am pleased to announce that Richard Pawlyn, Mark Jones and Melita Thomas have joined Remit as Associates and they bring a wealth of experience in business strategy, process review and information systems.
Have a look at our CVs at www.remitconsulting.com/cv.htm and please send any of us an e-mail from the links there or at the foot of this page.
What is the current focus of the property software market?
Last year software providers complained that companies are not buying property management systems - so what is available & does it work? Last month we addressed this in an article in the Estates Gazette - reprinted in this website

Collaboration tools - Have you chosen yours yet?
The construction industry in particular has begun to use collaboration tools for their projects, saving time and money, and reducing paper and misunderstandings.
The property industry is catching up fast, using these on-line extranets for transaction management.
Melita presented a speech on Collaboration Tools at the Calvis Document Management Seminar, and Remit supported Ernst & Young in their presentation on the same subject at the Construction Industry IT Best Practice Forum.

How should you be investing to improve your profitability?
In the last 12 months leading property organisations have spent valuable resource on projects ranging from transaction management to customer relationship management.
Freemans Guide to the Property Industry is due to publish an updated Property Service Providers Directory and we have provided the introduction to the property software section. Our introduction will provide examples of investment which has provided quick wins for property companies both in the US and Europe.
The Property Service Providers Directory will be published in September. For further details on the topic, contact us, or contact Sue Forster at Freemans SForster@efreeman.co.uk for details about the Directory.
New Work
We are delighted to have started work with our first four clients, a local authority, a software company, a retailer and a firm of surveyors. The projects range from defining market strategy through asset management reviews to business process re-engineering. A big thank you to our first clients.
